Question de traductions du sonore

Ville Sonore explore depuis ses débuts la question de la traduction des échelles d’évaluation des ambiances sonores, étant donné le contexte bilingue unique qu'offre Montréal. Nous avons étudié le vocabulaire utilisé par les francophones et les anglophones pour décrire les sons et les ambiances sonores de leur quotidien, ainsi que les similitudes et les différences entre eux ; par exemple, la distinction entre « son » et « bruit » diffère entre le français et l'anglais.

Nous avons également proposé et testé des traductions françaises du Swedish Soundscape Quality Protocol(SSQP), un questionnaire comprenant 8 échelles permettant d'évaluer une ambiance sonore sur son caractère agréable et animé.

En outre, nous participons aux efforts mondiaux de normalisation et de traduction des outils d'évaluation du paysage sonore, tels que les groupes de travail de l'ISO et le Soundscape AttributesTranslationProject (SATP), un projet de recherche international lancé en 2019.
