ABOUT THE PROJECT

Sharing our research with the public has always been a core tenet of the Sounds in the City project through raising the awareness of citizens with soundwalks and sound installations. This is now further aided by the addition of : two beautiful comics, thanks to the gorgeous art of Marina León (https://www.instagram.com/marinaladeanteojos/) and Madeleine Guastavino (https://www.instagram.com/tournesoliloque/).

Background noise that speaks volumes: Tales of sonic inequalities tells the story of three people exposed to different amounts and types of noise, and who have different opportunities to cope with it, across their daily activities. What if we rethink our cities through sound? Sketching a sound environment is a quietly magic and utopic story of putting human experiences and needs at the center of urban design.

Happy reading!
